CONAIRPROPET GoodBone Dog Treat Maker Review + Dog Pancake Recipe
You guys want to hear a funny story? I bought a waffle maker years ago thinking it would be so much fun to make waffles for breakfast on the weekends or have them as breakfast for dinner some nights. You want to know how many times I’ve used that waffle maker? ZERO! Every time my boyfriend gets it out to use it, he always laughs and says, you know, you’re the one who bought this right? Not me.
Fast forward to now, I’m having an absolute blast making dog treats using the new CONAIRPROPET GoodBone Dog Treat Maker. Funny how things immediately become more fun when they’re about our dogs, right? Ha!
When I found out that CONAIRPROPET, which by the way, is one of my favorite dog grooming brands, launched their very own dog treat maker, I was so excited and knew I had to try it. This dog treat maker is such a great gift idea for dog moms and dog owners! In this post, I’m sharing my full review of the CONAIRPROPET GoodBone Dog Treat Maker including how to use it, what it comes with, and TWO dog treat maker recipes (one is from my YouTube channel!) that I’ve created just for this post.
CONAIRPROPET GoodBone Dog Treat Maker What’s Included:
Let’s dive into all the details of the CONAIRPROPET GoodBone Dog Treat Maker! In your box, you’ll get the following:
- 1 GoodBone Dog Treat Maker
- 1 piping bag
- This is a very nice, good quality piping bag too. The chef in my house (a.k.a. my boyfriend, ha!) said it was a super nice one!
- 1 Instruction book and dog treat recipe book
- CONAIRPROPET actually partnered with Cuisinart to create three specialty recipes for you and your pups! I highly recommend checking them out! The recipes included in this post are created by me.
CONAIRPROPET GoodBone Dog Treat Maker: How To Use:
To use the CONAIRPROPET GoodBone Dog Treat Maker, below are a few quick steps and recommendations so you’re ready to start making delicious treats for your pup!
Step 1: Wipe down the inside nonstick biscuit plates to remove any dust from shipping with a damp cloth.
Step 2: Preheat the treat maker by closing it, plugging it in and waiting until you see a red light appear on the top.
Note: When you use it for the first time, you might smell a little odor or even see a little bit of smoke due to the nonstick surfaces being used for the first time! CONAIRPROPET also suggests seasoning the nonstick plates with cooking spray or flavorless vegetable oil first before using. If using oil, they suggest using a paper towel or pastry brush.
Step 3: Once the red light turns off and it switches to green, your GoodBone Dog Treat Maker is ready to use!
Most treats are ready within 3-5 minutes, depending on the recipe. After each time your dog treat maker is filled with batter and the dog treat maker is closed for baking, the red indicator light will turn back on during the baking process. Once the treats are ready, the green light will switch back on to indicate they’re done. Super easy, right?
Note: Always open the treat maker by lifting the cover by the handle to prevent getting burned!
Now that we know how to use the CONAIRPROPET GoodBone Dog Treat Maker, let’s learn how to make a very fun dog friendly pancake recipe that your pups will love!
P.S. The second recipe is at the bottom of this post after the steps of the first dog friendly pancake recipe! Make sure to check that out too!
Dog Pancake Recipe Ingredients:
Since I immediately thought of my old waffle maker when I saw this adorable dog treat maker, I figured, what better treat recipe to make than a delicious dog pancake recipe! Anytime we make pancakes for ourselves, we’ve always made the dogs their own little ones, but now that we have the CONAIRPROPET GoodBone Dog Treat Maker, their dog friendly pancakes are about to Level. It. Up! Ha!
For this dog pancake recipe you’ll need the following ingredients:
- 1 cup oat flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 cup shredded carrots
- 3/4 cup pure canned pumpkin (NOT pumpkin pie mix)
- 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1 egg
This mini dog friendly pancake recipe makes a lot of treats, so if you’re wondering what you can do with all of them, in addition to giving some to your pup, making a dog treat gift basket for a fellow dog parent and their dog would make such a great surprise!
How To Make Dog Friendly Pancakes Recipe:
Now let’s learn how to make dog pancakes:
Step 1: Grab a bowl and whisk together your egg and pure canned pumpkin. Then add in your unsweetened applesauce.
Step 2: Add in all of the remaining ingredients (baking powder, oat flour and carrots) and mix together.
Step 3: Plug in your CONAIRPROPET GoodBone Dog Treat Maker to preheat.
Step 4: Grab your piping bag and fold the end tip back so nothing comes out as you fill it.
Pro Tip: We ended up cutting the tip of our piping bag the slightest bit bigger. The original size of the tip is tiny, so only a little bit comes out at a time, which isn’t a bad thing at all! We just wanted a little more to come out at once, which is why you’ll see more batter coming out in these photos.
Step 5: Grab a spoon and begin filling your piping bag until it’s full of your batter!
Step 6: Slowly begin filling in the dog bone nonstick surface of your dog treat maker until all of the dog bones are filled (P.S. it’s ok if it isn’t perfect. Mine sure weren’t on the first try and your dog doesn’t care, ha!).
Step 7: Once your dog treat maker is filled, close and wait until the red indicator light goes away and turns green.
Pro Tip: For this recipe, I recommend letting the treat maker cook the dog friendly pancakes for a second round (open it and reclose it to initiate). These oat flour pumpkin dog treats are definitely a soft treat, and when they go for a second time, they come out of the treat maker easier!
Step 8: Use a spatula to remove your treats from the dog treat maker and place on a plate or cooling rack to cool.
Repeat these steps until all of your treats are made, then unplug your CONAIRPROPET GoodBone dog treat maker and let it cool off before putting it away.
Pro Tip: Make sure you’re keeping this dog treat maker up and away from your pets while using it. If you have a curious pup who loves the kitchen like I do (*cough cough Annie*, ha!), keeping it out of reach will prevent them from hurting themselves while it’s hot.
Once they’re cool, give to your dog and watch them drool (I mean enjoy, ha!).
