DGS Pet Products Dirty Dog Car Seat Cover Review

I have a confession you guys. For the last few years I have been driving my car with my dogs without a dog car seat cover! The worst part, is that I’m truthfully not the best at remembering to vacuum my car, so the dog hair on my car seats was on a whole new level, ha! Now, I used to have a car seat cover, but it was a super cheap one from Amazon that got ripped a part by my dog’s nails far too easy. I recently started looking for one that was much more durable and made of better material.

If you want to travel with your dogs, I definitely recommend investing in a quality dog car seat cover! Plus, if you’ve ever wondered how to keep dog hair out of your car, this is your solution. In this post, I’m super excited to share about a brand new product from one of my favorite dog brands, Dog Gone Smart Pet Products, also known as DGS Pet! 

They just launched their Dirty Dog Car Seat Cover and it is by far one of the best seat covers for dog hair out there! This dog car seat cover has many special features that really sets it a part from the rest, and in this post I’m sharing everything you need to know.

Feature 1: Dirty Dog Microfiber Material Seat

Unlike many car seat covers for dogs, the Dirty Dog Car Seat Cover has a special feature, their dirty dog microfiber material! As seen throughout all of the DGS Pet Dirty Dog Line, their super absorbent microfiber material has been designed to soak up 8X your dog’s weight in water while also brushing off excess dirt and mud. 

What I also love about the Dirty Dog microfiber material being added to the seat part of this seat cover for dogs is that it also provides a little extra cushion. When I first put this in my car, Diesel immediately jumped right up and laid down on it. He was like alright mom, now THIS is how I like to travel, ha! 

With the Dirty Dog microfiber material seat, you can soak up water after a dog-friendly beach day, lake day or pool day or have it for extra comfort for your dog on your car ride!

Feature 2: Oxford Water-Proof Fabric

The second feature of the Dirty Dog Dog Seat Cover and probably my favorite feature, is the Oxford water-proof fabric found on the back rest area and hammock panel. When I first took this dog car seat cover out of it’s package, I immediately loved it because of this fabric alone.

This material is so durable and truly holds up against your dog’s nails. When I first put this in the car, Diesel’s nails were actually quite long, which was the ultimate test for this dog car seat cover. I have had it up for a few weeks now and can say it still looks brand new! Not a single scratch on it! This material truly holds up which makes it the best dog car seat cover by far.

Feature 3: Dog Car Seat Hammock

The Dirty Dog Car Seat Cover can also convert into a few different styles, one being a dog car seat hammock! This seat cover for dogs has 4 snap buckles that attach around the head rests of each chair, creating the dog car seat hammock style. Each buckle can be adjusted to the length you want (see photos below!).

Plus, in the middle of this dog car seat cover is a zipper where you can create a half-hammock, which is perfect if you want to sit with your dog in the back without taking down the entire dog car seat cover.

Pro Tip: The dog car seat hammock style is designed to keep your pups out of the front seat, but know that it is still possible for your dog to get up front. When Diesel was little he would “surf” as well call it on the center council and look out with us while we are driving. Of course we know this isn’t safe and remind him every car ride that he has to sit in the back. If you have a curious pup too (or backseat driver pup, ha!), I recommend getting an additional barrier to keep your pup in the back. 

Features 4 & 5: Seat Anchors & Seat Belt Openings

The next two features on the DGS Pet Dirty Dog Car Seat Cover are seat anchors and seat belt openings. On both sides of the seat are seat anchors that you can push into your car seat to help hold the dog car seat cover in place. They do a pretty good job at holding it in place, but just know that if your dog gets super excited to jump in the car, or if you have a really big dog like me, they can still make the dog car seat cover move around. 

The seat belt openings come in handy if you choose to use the half-hammock feature to sit with your dog in the backseat or if you use a dog car seat belt harness, you can easily secure your pup while keeping dog hair out of your car!

Feature 6: Non-Slip Rubber Bottom

The last feature of this dog car seat cover is the non-slip rubber bottom. If you saw my blog post about the Dog Gone Smart Pet Products Dirty Dog Cushion Pad: Washable Dog Crate Pad, then you’re already familiar with their helpful non-slip bottom material. 

My SUV has cloth seats, but since many vehicles have leather car seats, I actually think that this non-slip rubber bottom would be a great dog seat cover for leather seats as I believe it would grip quite well!

With all of the traveling I do with my pups, this is definitely one of the best seat covers for dog hair out there!
