Happy 2 Years!
January 5th, 2015 I met this sailor named Chandler. To this day, talking to him was the best decision I could have ever made. I don’t think I’ve shared the story of how we met with you guys yet, but the way Chandler and I met is quite funny once you get to know my personality a little better. Chandler and I met at a bar the night of my old roommates birthday. I personally am not a huge drinker but myself, our other roommate and their significant others headed to the bars for a fun birthday night.
Once we got to the bars we were all just talking and I was trying to play pool. When I say trying, I mean I was sucking at pool. I just can’t do it! Anyways, we were all hanging out and then all of a sudden three of my roommate’s boyfriend’s shipmates that we’ve never met before walk up out of the blue and start saying hi. Of course my roommates immediately told me that I should talk to him. I told them no because I had just gotten out of a bad relationship just weeks before this day.
My friends decided to put us on a pool team together and as soon as I knew I was like well, this should be good! 🙂 We would talk here and there and the more we did the more we discovered how much we had in common. We even found out we lived in the same town for many years (he actually lived on a street across from my mom’s shop).
As the night went on, we all decided to leave the bars and hang out at our apartment. We sat on a chair and watched some TV together until it was 4 am. In just a few hours, Chandler was actually heading back home for his leave period. Funny thing, Chandler’s home is only 30 minutes from where my parents live.
We continued to text for the next few days until he decided to come up and visit me and take me on our first date. This day was January 5th, 2015 and we went to the zoo. We had the best time and the rest is history. I know that’s a cheesy line but it’s true!
We really balance each other out. I’m the planner and he’s spontaneous. I’m the picky eater and he’s the one who will eat anything. I’ve tried so many new foods in the past two years because of him! He helps me communicate better about important issues when I’d rather be hiding in my room not talking about them. He couldn’t have come at a better time in my life and I truly am blessed to call him mine.
Happy two years, Chandler. I love you!
