Horseback Rider Interview Series: Elise Letson

Happy Wednesday!

I am back with the second rider of my rider interview series! This rider was actually introduced for the first time on my Instagram last week. Think you know who it is? Today we’re learning more about Elise Letson and her horse Ebony!

1. How long have you been riding?

I have been riding for 5 years! 3 years English and 2 years western!

2. What discipline(s) do you ride? Do you have a favorite?

I ride English and I show in the jumpers! I would to eventually do some stuff in the big eq

3. Who are some of your biggest inspirations?

One of my biggest inspirations is Brian Moggre because he is such an amazing rider and has accomplished so much for only being 17!!!

4. Tell us more about Ebony! Height/age/breed/quirks? 🙂

Ebony is a Bavarian warmblood! She is 16.2 hands she’s 12 years old. A couple of her quicks that I love is that she plays with her bottom lips! Sometimes when we are going around the ring she moves it and it makes her look like she talking!! The other quirk she has is if you scratch her neck/ withers she will groom you!

5. How did you find Ebony? How long have you had her?

My old trainer found her for us at a place called WB Equestrian! I will have had her for 2 years may 12!

6. What does your trainer constantly get on to you about?

Ha! The thing my trainer gets on me the most about is I lean in my turns (bad habit from barrel racing)

7. What is the highest you and Ebony have ever jumped?

The highest I have jumped is 1.30 ( 4’3”)

8. What is the best piece of riding advice you’ve ever been given?

“You don’t have to get to every jump perfect, you just have to get to every jump”

9. What are your current/future riding goals?

My current goal is to be consist in the low children’s and my future goal is to do the low juniors and up!

10. How has riding made an impact on other parts of your life?

It’s a very consuming sport and it’s hard to have free time but it’s so worth it what you get back out of it and the partnership between you and your horse.

I hope you all enjoyed getting to know Elise! I love getting to know riders of many ages and disciplines because it really shows how awesome and diverse our community is! Make sure to head over to her main Instagram account (https://www.instagram.com/elise.letson/) to see more from her and Ebony! Also, Elise has created a videography account that features riding successes and (of course) failures ha! Click here to check out that account!
