Juananip Catnip For Dogs Anxiety: Catnip Toys For Dogs

Since I was little, I’ve always had catnip in the house for my cats. Years ago, we had a calico cat named Cleo who absolutely LOVED catnip. Her and I were always good friends because I was the one who always got her the best catnip toys, ha! Fast forward to today, our cats Colonel Mustard and Butler also love their catnip toys, and one of their favorite brands is Meowijuana!

You know what I just learned though? Dogs can have catnip too! Yep, you read that right, dogs can have catnip! Meowijuana has a sister brand called Doggijuana that I got to learn more about at the Global Pet Expo earlier this year and I was absolutely fascinated by the idea of catnip for dogs. Doggijuana has their own organic catnip called the Juananip and it’s in all of their catnip toys for dogs

In this post, I’m going to be sharing all about Doggijuana, the catnip effect on dogs, and everything you can get for your dog like catnip toys for dogs, catnip dog treats and more!

Catnip And Dogs: Can Dogs Have Catnip?

So I’m sure all of you are wondering like I was, “can dogs have catnip?”. The answer is yes! When I started doing research about catnip and dogs, I learned that catnip has been used for dogs anxiety and can work as a calming product for dogs.

Unlike cats, where organic catnip would get them all excited, catnip has the opposite effect on dogs. Catnip has Vitamins A & E as well as magnesium and when the essential oil in catnip, called Nepetalactone binds to a dogs receptors in their face and stomach, it can have a calming effect on your dog!

You can put Doggijuana’s Juananip organic catnip for dogs in their food or in the catnip toys for dogs that we’ll be going over next.

Fun Fact: Doggijuana’s Juananip won the 2023 Pet Innovation Award for Dog Calming Product of the Year! So cool!!!

With anything for your animal, always follow the recommended amounts. We’ve been playing with the catnip toys for dogs, but we haven’t tried putting it in food yet. I’m curious to try this in situations where I know the dogs could get nervous like Annie with big thunderstorms (we just haven’t had any lately for us to test but when we do, I’ll definitely add an update to this post!).

If you’re interested in adding it to your dog’s food, below are the serving sizes by weight that Doggijuana has listed on their website:

  • Less than 20 lb.: 1/4 tsp
  • 20-50 lbs.: 1/2 tsp
  • 50+ lbs.: 1 tsp

Doggijuana Plush Catnip Toys For Dogs

So now let’s get into all of the fun ways you can use Juananip organic catnip for dogs, starting with their plush catnip toys for dogs. What honestly first caught my attention of the Doggijuana catnip toys for dogs were the hilarious designs. Like their sister brand Meowijuana, Doggijuana did not disappoint on their funny catnip dog toys.

These catnip toys for dogs all come with a tube of their Juananip that you can fill all of their toys with. If you run out, they have two different refill sizes including the standard  Juananip Refill Bottle that has 52 servings at .5g per serving and the Jar of Juananip that has about four times the amount of the regular Juananip Refill Bottle.

At the bottom of every plush calming catnip dog toy, there is Velcro where you can open up the toy to add in your Juananip organic catnip. Once you’ve added your organic catnip, then you can close the Velcro and give your toy to your dog!

Note: These toys are not designed for more tough chewers. However, if you’re looking for more tuff dog toys, you’re going to like what’s next!

I couldn’t resist sharing these hilarious bloopers of Annie and I while playing, ha! In both photos we’ve got crazy eyes!!

Doggijuana Tuff Dog Toys

So, if you have a dog like my boy Diesel, who’s a lot more “ruff” on their toys (ha!), but you’re really interested in trying some catnip toys for dogs, these next toys are for you! Doggijuana actually has a line of durable catnip dog toys for chewers called their Tuffer Chewer Dog Toys

Like the plush toys, these come with the tube of Juananip, can be filled at the bottom, but the interior and exterior of these toys is what differs! The exterior of the these tuff dog toys has a thicker lining and the actual material is a little thicker/more durable than the first group, making these a more tough plush dog toy. Then, on the inside, the toys are filled with rope instead of a ton of “floof” as we call it in my house, turning these into a tough stuffed dog toy!

While there’s no such thing as an indestructible dog toy, these have been pretty good with the Diesel Weasel so far!

Doggijuana Catnip Treats For Dogs

Last but not least, and probably my chowhound Annie’s favorite, are the Doggijuana Juananip catnip dog treats! What I love about their catnip treats for dogs is that not only do you get a ton of them in the jar, they’re also the perfect size training treat for all dog sizes and the perfect regular size treat for small dogs! They have no wheat, soy or animal by-products, are only 1.8 calories per treat, have a tasty chicken flavor and they’re made in the USA.

What makes their catnip treats for dogs special is that they actually have two main ingredients:

  • Juananip organic catnip
  • Valerian Root

The Valerian Root is a plant native to Europe and Asia, that also grows in North America. From Doggijuana’s helpful article about “All About Valerian Root“, that I highly recommend reading for more information, they share that the:

“Valerian root has mild sedative qualities and has traditionally been used by humans to alleviate insomnia, stress, and anxiety. It has a similar effect on dogs and is commonly recommended by integrative vets for anxious pups. Valerian root can be useful for dogs that have anxiety due to loud noises like fireworks, gunfire, or thunderstorms…”

Again, if you want to learn more, I definitely recommend checking out their article because it’s pretty interesting!
