Portable Cat Enclosure Tent Review
I have always taken my dogs with me everywhere. Whether it’s a trip to grandma’s house, a dog-friendly vacation, or a quick car ride to PetSmart, I love it when my pups join me for fun activities. When we added Colonel and Butler to the family, I saw all of these super cool traveling cats and thought, I want my cats to be cool like that and come with me on fun adventures!
So, in addition to their cat harness training, I wanted to find a portable cat enclosure that I could bring with me and all their essentials for day trips to places like my parent’s house. After looking at tons and tons of options online, I finally found one that was actually a decent size, had more than one room, and more. In this post, I’ll be sharing all about the Portable Cat Enclosure Tent I found on Amazon and all of it’s cool features!
Favorite Travel Litter Box For Cats
By the way, before I get into all the details on the portable pet enclosure cat tent, I wanted to share one of my must-have items for traveling with cats that will be featured in this post! If you’ve never seen Travel Cat’s Porta-Pawty, you have to get it! In my opinion, this is the best travel litter box for cats! When empty, it folds up accordion style pretty small which makes prepping for travel super easy. When opened, it is 9.75″ X 8.5″ X 4″ and it fits Colonel just fine and he’s a solid 11-12lb. cat! Butler fits in it perfectly but he’s tiny, ha! The top also has a pocket where you can place any extra items you want, like a travel litter box scooper.
Portable Cat Enclosure Tent Details
Now let’s get into the details of this fun portable cat enclosure! I looked at SO many and the deciding factors for this one were the size, the incredible amounts of storage and the customization you could really do to it to make it the perfect cat playpen! The features include:
- Size: 49.2″ X 31.51″ X 26.31″
- So many options that I found were incredibly small and didn’t allow for honestly any sort of movement, or a way to have the litter box not be on top of a bed or playing area in general. This one not only is a great height, but it’s wide and long enough to have enough room to walk around in.
- Waterproof fabric
- Removable bottom and top
- I have done the top before but I’ve never really had a reason to do the bottom. I can think of some reasons why that would be helpful, but the biggest thing that pops in my head is my animal escaping which to me defeats the whole reason why I got it, ha! When I’m home and have it out for the cats to play in, I’ll usually unzip the top since they will get their zoomies and jump in and out of it. Cracks me up!
- High-strength mesh material for windows and doors
- So far I can attest that this is pretty good! I’ve had it since January and for the first month or so I only used it when traveling to my parents house and then I had it in my office closet for a while when I needed more room but also didn’t want to take it down, ha! In the last few weeks I’ve had it out in my office since the cats love to play in it and it still looks brand new (even with Colonel’s kick bursts, ha!).
- Mesh pocket for storage
- On the smaller room attachment where the zipper openings are (will get into that below), the top mesh area actually has a zipper where you can put some items. If you’re traveling, you could slide in your litter box scooper or even pack many of your cats toys here. Whatever works best for you!
- Folds flat for easy storage when traveling
- When it first arrives in the mail it will come in two separate pieces that you open up to the full size. The flat size that it comes when you order it is exactly how flat it can get for storage!
- Separate space for litter box & scooping
- THIS! This was SOOO cool to me! Now, can you make this type of space with other options? Yeah, possibly. When I searched though, I found nothing that either had enough room to do it in one when I actually measured it (photos are deceiving my friends) or a separate room like this one did. The smaller room attachment has a zipper on the bottom so you can easily slip your portable kitty litter box in and out to clean it. You can also use the top zipper on that same room and reach in and scoop that way too! Love all of the options!
- Velcro on the mesh front door and above the mesh front door so you can roll it up and secure it in place.
How To Assemble The Two Rooms Of Your Portable Cat Enclosure
Since the two rooms of this portable indoor cat playpen come separate, I thought it would be helpful to show how to put together the rooms and even the top roof piece since when you first see it you might go, “huh?” like I did, ha!
Let’s start with adding the top zipper to the bigger room.
Step 1: Grab your top piece and your larger room from your portable indoor cat playpen.
Step 2: On the big room piece, find the connecting zipper piece and plug in the zipper from the roof piece into it. Once connected, zip all the way around to fully connect the roof piece to your large room piece.
Now, let’s add the mini room to the big room of our portable indoor cat playpen.
Step 1: Grab both room pieces and find the connecting zipper piece and connect your zipper.
Pro Tip: This one is going to feel weird because you’ll be doing it backwards and reaching up under the bottom to zip all the way around. So, in other words, if it doesn’t feel right you’re probably doing it right, ha!
Step 2: Fully zip all the way around until you are now at the top of the small room to complete the room assembly.
I absolutely love this collapsible pet cat tent and I love that Colonel Mustard and Butler do too! As I was writing this, I was moving it around so I could confirm the instructions for how to put it together since I’ve had it up for so many months now and Butler was watching me the whole time. He was like “mom, what are you doing with my cat playpen? You’re way too big for it.” But really, they do love it and it makes me laugh everyday to see the WWE Kitty Smackdowns they have in there. Ha!
