3 Durable KONG Dog Toys
I am always searching for durable dog toys that Diesel can’t rip up within seconds! Most of the time, I have to take Diesel’s toys away within minutes just to save their lives and to make one play time session turn into two. Ha! I mean, we’ve even gone to the extent of keeping a sewing kit on hand just to repair his plush dog toys. You would’ve laughed if you saw how one of the faces looked on his lamb chop toy years ago from our repair efforts. Ha!
There has been one brand throughout the years that has been tried and true for all of the large dogs that I have had in my life. With many different designs, shapes and strengths, there’s a reason why KONG company has been around for over 30 years. Today’s blog post will go into detail about three different types of durable KONG dog toys that Diesel loved. If you have a power chewer like me, this post is for you!
1. KONG Classic
If you are a dog owner, odds are you have probably heard of the KONG classic dog toy! What’s unique about this dog toy is that it comes in different strengths for different chewing levels.
For instance, when Diesel was a puppy, we purchased the KONG puppy toy which is designed for a growing puppy’s baby teeth. He had some serious raptor teeth (as we called them), and having something to chew on definitely helped!
In addition to the puppy strength level, the KONG Classic toy is also available in a Senior Strength, Extreme Strength and even a small animal version for birds, rats and ferrets. About a year ago we actually purchased the extreme strength version and it did quite well for Diesel.
Our favorite part about the KONG Classic dog toy is that you can actually freeze this dog toy! Diesel has always been a dog who can get anxious or bored quickly. Our go-to solution for this is to stuff his KONG toy with either all natural peanut butter, one of the Easy Treat Stuffing Flavors, or if we’re feeling really creative, we will try out one of the many KONG recipe ideas that have been shared from some happy pups!
2. DuraMax Dumbbell
Next on the list is probably Diesel’s favorite dog toy yet, the KONG DuraMax Dumbbell. I honestly wasn’t sure how Diesel was going to treat this toy when he first got it. To my surprise, not only did he love it, but he still hasn’t tried to chew it up at all! I think he wants to keep it around for a while. Ha! Out of everything he’s tried, this collection is by far features the best KONG toys for power chewers!
The DuraMax toys are made of a KONG-crafted K-100 material that not only makes it tough but also flexible too. The second Diesel got it he started prancing all around and discovered a squeaker inside that I did not know was there! When I read more about this toy, I also learned that the texture on the exterior of the toy was also designed to help clean teeth and gums. So not only is your dog having a great time playing, they are also cleaning their mouths. Talk about a win-win!
The DuraMax collection also features a ball and puck. I’ll definitely be getting Diesel the other two items in this collection for sure!
3. KONG Wubba Medley
Last but not least is the KONG Wubba Medley Toy. In addition to his puppy KONG classic, Diesel has had Wubba toys since he was a few months old. This dog’s favorite thing to do is to play tug-of-war and his Wubba toys are always his go to choices.
What’s unique about the Wubba Medley dog toy is that it features many different noises and textures. The top ball part of the toy has a rattling sound and the tails of the toy are a mixture of soft rope and crinkle material, making your dog extra excited and intrigued by all of the different sounds.
For anyone else who has a power chewer, this is definitely a supervise-only dog toy. Because the material on this toy is softer than the others listed, it is easier to be torn a part by a dog who is dedicated to ripping it a part (like Diesel ha!). He does love this toy so much and we play tug-of-war with it every chance we get!
