3 Ingredient Yogurt Dog Treat Recipe with Lickimat Soother

I have never really enjoying cooking or baking. To me, it always felt like a chore instead of a fun activity. It wasn’t until a few weeks ago when I went to search a fruit on Google to see if my pets could have it that I went down this super fun rabbit hole of dog nutrition! I had no idea of the many amazing benefits that certain fruits, veggies and other foods contained for our dogs! Now, I have like 5 silicone molds for making dog treats or dog popsicles and a ton of healthy dog treat recipe ideas that I can’t wait to share!

Today’s recipe is a 3 ingredient yogurt dog treat recipe with my Lickimat Soother Treat Mat! This is my first of many Lickimat recipe ideas that I’ll be sharing on the blog. Not only is this an easy Lickimat recipe but it also doubles as a dog popsicle recipe! Plus, these 3 ingredients are most likely already in your kitchen. Let’s get started!

Lickimat Recipe Ingredients:

This greek yogurt dog treat recipe takes only five minutes to make and contains three easy ingredients that you probably already have in your fridge:

  • 1/2 cup Greek Yogurt (plain, xylitol free & no added sugars or sweeteners)
  • 2-5 Strawberries
  • 1 tbsp Honey (local honey is even better if you can get it!)

To make, all you have to do is mix the yogurt and honey together in a bowl. Spread it on the lickimat soother and then chop up your strawberries and place on top of the yogurt! I couldn’t resist putting my chopped up strawberries into the shape of a heart. It was too cute even though it would only last a few seconds ha!

You can serve this treat as is, or you can put it in the freezer for a tasty frozen yogurt treat for your dog. In the summer, I will make a ton of frozen dog treats and dog popsicles as a great way to cool my pups off from the harsh Florida summer heat!

Nutritional Benefits:

My original idea with this lickimat recipe was to create one that was filled with a ton of nutritional benefits for my allergy-sensitive dog Diesel! Here’s a quick breakdown of the nutritional benefits of the ingredients in this yogurt dog treat recipe!

  1. Plain Greek Yogurt: The active bacteria in plain greek yogurt can help strengthen your dogs digestive system with probiotics! As long your yogurt has no xylitol, no added sugars and no artificial sweeteners, it is safe! I use the FAGE total 0% plain greek yogurt that I use to make my own breakfast parfaits!
    1. Note: Some dogs can have trouble digesting dairy products.
  2.  Strawberries: These berries are filled with fiber and Vitamin C (can help reduce inflammation and cognitive aging). Plus, they contain an enzyme that can help whiten your dogs teeth!
  3. Honey: Honey is a huge source of vitamins A, B, C, D, E, K and potassium, calcium, magnesium, copper and antioxidants. When you add small amounts of honey to your dog’s diet, it slowly starts to add pollen into their system, helping them become more immune to local allergens in your area.
    1. Diesel has always had skin allergies and sensitive paws. We’re starting to add honey from a local farm into his diet to see if it helps with his allergies!
