Lickimat Felix: Lickimats For Cats
I know my blog is primarily dog and equestrian focused, but for 16 years now, I have had another furry friend by my side, my cat Felix! Having a senior cat has taught me a lot of things, especially about diet. Felix is currently in remission from Diabetes and is on a special wet food/dry food diet. When I discovered Lickimat and their awesome dog products, I learned that they also have lickimats for cats! As soon as I saw that they had one named Felix, I knew I had to get one! *it was a sign* Ha!
In this post, I’ll share more about the Lickimat Felix and how cats can also benefit from having their own Lickimat, just like dogs!
What Does The LickiMat Felix Do?
I didn’t know that cats could benefit from Lickimats until I learned more about what they do! Lickimats for cats have many benefits, including:
- Mimic cat’s predatory feeding
- Whisker-friendly (no more stress)
- Did you know that cats don’t like having their whiskers touch their bowl? It actually stresses them out, resulting in them placing their food on the ground to eat instead of out of their bowl!
- Allows crouching whilst feeding
- A more natural feeding stance
- Stimulates saliva to aid digestive health
- Promotes healthier teeth and gums
- Makes a small meal or treat last longer
Once I learned all of the above, I got so excited. Especially with the last note because Felix eats his food so fast, I was eager to try it out as his new cat feeding bowl!
What To Put On A Lickimat Felix?
Right now, I’m putting Felix’s canned wet food on his cat Lickimat Felix, but there are many other tasty options your cat can enjoy, including:
- Fish (pressed into Lickimat – Salmon, Tuna, Sardines)
- Cooked veggies like carrots or peas
- Yogurt
- Cheese
When putting your cats food or treat on the Lickimat, be sure to spread all of it across the Lickimat, ensuring it is embedded into the surface. If everything is right on top, they won’t be able to fully use it!
How To Clean The Lickimat Felix?
To clean your Lickimat Felix, hand wash in warm soapy water and set out to dry. Many Lickimat products are dishwasher safe, but many of their classic Lickimats, including this one are not. If your cat likes this as much as mine did, you won’t have much to clean off. Ha!
This cat Lickimat is non-toxic, BPA Free, microwave proof and freezer-friendly though!
