Jaffee’s Organic Bone Broth For Dogs + Dog Lick Mat Idea
Have you ever asked someone “Can I give my dog chicken broth?” and they answered yes? Well, fun fact, chicken broth is not safe for dogs because of the additional items that are added to it that make it toxic like onions, salt or garlic.
Now, what you can give your dog is dog bone broth! Dog bone broth is free of those added ingredients and there’s actually a ton of benefits of bone broth for dogs! In the last few years, I’ve taken a deep dive into dog bone broth to learn all about it, and I recently found a new dog bone broth brand that I think is really stepping it up and standing out in the pet industry.
Jaffee’s organic bone broth for dogs is based right here in Florida just like me, and all of their dog bone broth is free of salt, fat and additives! In this post, I’m going to be sharing the many benefits of bone broth for dogs, more information about Jaffee’s dog bone broth and a brand new dog lick mat idea using one of our favorite dog bone broth flavors!

Benefits of Bone Broth For Dogs
In the last few years, I’ve really tried to do a lot of research on all of the products I give to my dogs. There are so many pet items on the shelves these days, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it means we need to do our due diligence and make sure it actually provides a benefit to our dogs. Luckily, dog bone broth has many benefits and below are give benefits of bone broth for dogs!
1. Enhances Flavor & hydration
The first benefit of bone broth for dogs is that it adds hydration and flavor to their meal! Every time I feed my dogs, I always add a little water in my dog’s food to create a broth and add in hydration. The benefit of dog bone broth, is that not only does it add hydration, but also many other nutrients (that we’ll get into shortly). I have a handful of reasons why I like this for my dogs and also how this can help dogs I know:
- Helps picky eaters increase their appetite (like my parent’s dog Aiden or honestly sometimes Diesel)
- Softens food for senior dogs (for my parent’s dog Aiden and Diesel as he gets older)
- Adds hydration to your dog’s diet (Annie is a camel and really only drinks when she has meals, so I love that this helps with that)
2. Helps decrease inflammation
The next benefit of bone broth for dogs is that it helps decrease inflammation in dogs. Chronic inflammation can result in arthritis, heart disease, cancer, diabetes and more. Dog bone broth contains anti-inflammatory amino acids including glycine and arginine that can aid in fighting inflammation.
3. Increases joint support
Jaffee’s bone broth is packed with Glucosamine and Collagen, which is essential for repairing and strengthening joints. One important thing to note is that dog broth is not a solution or a cure for joint issues in dogs (which is extremely common in certain breeds and in all as they get older). If you have a concern, please consult your veterinarian.
4. Provides essential minerals
Another incredible benefit of bone broth for dogs is the amount of vitamins and minerals it gives them. Dog bone broth is packed with magnesium, calcium, silicon, sulfur and phosphorus, all of which help with your dog’s heart, gut, skin and nervous system!
5. Detoxes the liver
Remember those amino acids we mentioned in the second benefit of bone broth for dogs? Those same amino acids, glycine and arginine, also help detox the liver and keep it strong, which is the essential organ dogs use to fight off toxins. In other words, if you have a dog who will literally eat anything off the ground (aka my girl Annie, also known as trash panda sometimes, ha!), it’s extremely important to have a healthy liver!

About Jaffee’s Dog Bone Broth & Products
When I first discovered Jaffee’s bone broth for dogs, what immediately caught my attention was their flavors. I’ve seen chicken bone broth for dogs and beef bone broth for dogs, which they do have as well, but, they also have Bison dog bone broth and Elk dog bone broth, neither of which I had seen before! I personally love incorporating new proteins into my dog’s diet (especially in training) because it really gets them excited.
The next thing that I found absolutely fascinating was their edible bones inside of their dog bone broth bags. Jaffee’s unique pressure cooking method actually makes their bones soft and crunchy unlike actual bones that are choking hazards and can chip teeth. When I met the team, I actually got to feel the edible bones myself in a bowl and was shocked. They felt like sand between my fingers! The edible bones are in every single bag and make a great additional dog food topper once you get to the bottom of the bag! All of their bones come from independent farms that raise 100% organic, grass-fed, free-range animals.
Jaffee’s also makes a few other products that are centered around your dog’s overall health! Below is the full product list:
- Dog Bone Broth Bags
- Chicken, Beef, Bison and Elk
- These come in 4, 6 or 8 packs and you can get the same flavor or a mixed variety. They ship frozen which is why they ship in packs of at least four from their website. Independent pet stores sell their bags individually if you want a single bag! Check out their store locator to see what store carries it near you!
- Chicken, Beef, Bison and Elk
- Dog bone broth popsicles
- Chicken, Beef, Bison and Elk
- These also are sold in bulk in 4 or 8 packs.
- Chicken, Beef, Bison and Elk
- Roost Boost and Big Game Boost Meal Toppers
- These meal toppers are the remaining proteins from their dog broth batches and are dried and turned into tasty nutrition boosts that you can sprinkle on top of your dog’s food, or, if you’re big into making homemade dog treats like dog lick mat recipes or even dog popsicle recipes, these would be a great boost to add in!
- BioBroth Complete
- This is Jaffee’s newest product and one that I haven’t tried just yet! This is their powdered dog bone broth that has grass-fed beef dog bone broth, species-specific (dog) probiotics, and medicinal mushrooms.
- This product is designed to provide great support for your dog’s gut, brain, skin, immunity, allergies and more.

Dog Lick Mat Idea:
Now, you know I had to create a fun bone broth dog treat and of course it had to be a dog lick mat idea! Since dog bone broth adds hydration, this frozen Lickimat idea is a fantastic summer treat for dogs! Plus, the design is inspired by the summer too! Below is everything you need:
- Lickimat TUFF (favorite Lickimat for liquids)
- Jaffee’s dog bone broth (any flavor!)
- Plain Greek Yogurt (always use plain since the flavors usually have sugar added)
- 1 Strawberry
- Piping bag or DIY version with hole cut in a ziploc bag (I used the DIY version for this post!)
Step 1: Measure out your dog’s serving size for the organic dog bone broth flavor of choice.
Step 2: Grab your Lickimat TUFF and fill it with as much of your dog’s serving size of Jaffee’s dog bone broth. This creates your “ocean water”. Freeze for 3-4 hours or overnight.
Step 3: Grab your Lickimat TUFF with your frozen dog bone broth from the freezer. Fill your piping bag with 1-2 spoonfuls of plain Greek yogurt and create a circle on top of your dog bone broth. This creates the base for your “life preserver ring.”

Step 4: Cut up 1 strawberry into four pieces and place in diagonal pairs on top of your yogurt. This completes the design for your “life preserver ring”.
Step 5: Freeze for another hour or two and give to your dog!
