Cabin Getaway in Madison, New Hampshire

A few weeks ago, Chandler, myself, my photographer Nikki and her husband Chris took a trip up north experience New England for the first time. The first half of our trip was spent in Boston, Massachusetts and the second half was spent in New Hampshire!

Read my full review of our stay at the Newbury Guest House in Boston here.

Chandler and I have been wanting to take a trip to a cabin for quite some time now, and when I discovered this cabin in Madison, New Hampshire on Vacasa I was sold!

We took a handful of photos of the cabin itself, but to be honest, the listing photos really show off the place fully and share more details of each individual room. So, if you’re curious to see the place, I highly recommend looking at the listing in addition to my blog post!

I also did a walk through of the cabin when we first arrived on my stories and saved it in a highlight here so you can view it!

This cabin was conveniently located near many top locations:

  • Downtown North Conway (10-15 minutes)
  • Kancamagus Highway (30 minutes max)
  • Local shopping center that includes REI and an L.L. Bean outlet – yes I said outlet! (15 minutes)

What I love most about this location is its versatility. This family-friendly cabin is perfect for summer and fall with it’s walking distance to the lake, and also perfect for winter with close access to ski resorts including King Pine, Cranmore and Bear Peak.

The master bedroom also featured a closet full of board games and the living room had a huge basket of DVD’s that everyone could enjoy.

We really loved that we had access to the entire cabin. For the four of us, it was a wonderful amount of room. This cabin does fit up to 9 guests with a total of 3 bedrooms and 6 beds. The main living space has plenty of seating, and there are two bathrooms, one on the first floor and one on the second.

Well, actually there are three bathrooms. When we first walked into the cabin we couldn’t help but laugh when we saw a single toilet next to the washer and dryer in the garage area. When you first walk in, you are on the ground floor where the outdoor items are held and you walk up to the actual “first floor.” As silly as it looked, it did seem somewhat practical if you had a muddy day outside and really needed to go – you could go without getting the entire place all messy! Ha!

On the kitchen counter, Vacasa kindly left a binder that had information on local grocery stores and attractions with corresponding step by step directions.

Since we had all of the dishes we needed, and the grocery store being so close, we made a nice breakfast for the four of us that we enjoyed!

Something that was new to us was the trash information they provided. We were in an area with bears so we knew we couldn’t just put the trash outside, however we didn’t know that there was a specific place that you had to drive to take the trash to. It wasn’t the biggest deal but it is an additional cost (only a couple bucks I believe) and they do provide you with a coupon.

Another thing that surprised us was that the kayaks and canoe were locked away, mostlikely because they belong to the homeowner. I found out during our stay that those weren’t included in the stay, however all of the pool floats, fishing poles and other items were. If you’re thinking about coming in the summer, unless it changes, I recommend renting a canoe from one of the local vendors there like Saco Canoe Rental. If you do rent a canoe, be sure to check their hours and call early to ensure availability

The whole time we were there, I couldn’t stop thinking about how the place reminded me of the movie The Parent Trap. Needless to say, we couldn’t resist creating our own fun handshake at the cabin!

Overall, I would highly recommend this cabin. It had a great view, quick access to many amenities and the way it was designed and kept up really made us feel welcome. If you’re interested in booking this cabin, please reach out if you have any questions! I’d love to help answer and clarify anything you might be curious about!
