Gummy Worm DIY Homemade Frozen Dog Treats
Growing up, I never really had a sweet tooth. I don’t even like chocolate! The one thing I did like though? Gummies! I have always loved gummy bears, gummy worms, you name it. One of my all time favorites are the Trolli Sour Brite Gummy Worms. Those. Are. Delicious, ha! Last year I saw a worm silicone mold at Joann Fabrics and was like oh my gosh, I should make my own frozen dog treats recipe that look like my favorite gummies; so I did!
In this post, I’m sharing how you can make this fun homemade frozen dog treats recipe with only four easy ingredients in just a few minutes!

Frozen Dog Treat Recipe Ingredients/Tools:
For this fun frozen dog treats recipe, I’m making two of the iconic gummy flavors: the yellow and red and the orange and green. Below is a list of everything I used, plus substitutions if you already have one ingredient instead of another!
- Frozen Peas (never get the canned version because of the added sodium)
- Pure canned pumpkin (not pumpkin pie filling. Substitution: blended carrots!)
- Banana (Substitution: unsweetened applesauce)
- Strawberries (Substitution: watermelon – one of our favorites for summer dog treats!)
- Ninja Bullet Blender
- Worm Silicone Mold

Frozen Dog Treat Recipe Flavor 1:
Now for the fun part! Here’s how to make this fun DIY homemade frozen dog treats recipe!
Pro Tip: To help transfer everything to your freezer, I would grab a baking sheet if you have one or a small pan. Once we add in liquids in the second flavor, you’ll want one, ha!
Step 1: On a plate, mash your banana. You can either use a fork or my favorite tool, a cocktail muddler. It works fantastic!
Step 2: In a blender, blend 1-2 strawberries with a splash or two of water.
Step 3: Fill the other half of your worms with the blended strawberries.

Frozen Dog Treat Recipe Flavor 2:
Step 1: After cooking your mashed peas (I used a steamable bag), put some in a bowl and mash. I use my cocktail muddler for this too. Fill half your worms with your mashed frozen peas.
Step 2: On the other half of your worms, next to your peas, fill with your pure canned pumpkin.
Step 3: Freeze entire sheet for 2-3 hours or overnight. The banana, peas and pumpkin will freeze pretty quickly, it’s the blended strawberries that need a bit more time!

This is probably one of my favorite dog frozen treats recipes I’ve ever made simply because it’s inspired by my favorite sweet treat! Plus, if you’re looking for new summer dog treats, this is a great one to make with a ton of awesome health benefits!
