Ogilvy Equestrian Jump BabyPad Review

When I first started riding I only purchased a handful of essential items to help keep the cost down and because I truly didn’t know which products I liked out of the huge amount of equestrian tack and clothes out there.

Now that I’ve been riding for a bit longer and have started to learn about what brands I like from either my own use or recommendations from my barn family, I’ve started to invest in expanding my own equestrian tack. For my birthday last month, Chandler surprised me with a shopping spree, and of course I went to my local tack shop, Tack Shack Ocala. One of my favorite birthday purchases was an Ogilvy Equestrian Jump BabyPad.

Ogilvy saddle pads are a huge favorite in our barn and so I had to see what all the fuss was about! In this blog post I’ll be sharing my review of the Ogilvy Equestrian Jump BabyPad and why it is my new favorite english saddle pad brand!

P.S. Don’t forget to check out more from my Equestrian Life section on my blog for more product reviews, horseback riding outfit ideas, and more!

1. Easy To Wash/Long Lasting

One of the reasons I bought this saddle pad is it’s durability. I mentioned earlier how Olgivy is a barn favorite and that’s because the saddle pads we have there have been around for years. When you wash them, they truly do come out brand new. One of the goals of Ogilvy Equestrian was to create a stain resistant product and I can honestly say that every time I wash my BabyPad I’m always so happy with how it comes out looking like I just bought it at the store!

I wash my Jump BabyPad on a regular setting in the washer and put it in the dryer like normal clothes with usually another saddle pad and that’s it!

2. Stays In Place

The inside of the saddle pad features a poly FrictionFree and Antislip material that almost feels like the suede on knee patch breeches. This material really grips to the horse’s hair and stays in place while riding. I’m a hunter rider and even though I’m doing simple cavaletti and cross rail work right now, many of the other jumpers at my barn who jump more than a meter use these pads as well and I’ve seen the saddle pad stay in place perfectly for them too.

3. Great Key Features

This saddle pad is also very lightweight, breathable and moisture wicking. Summer time rides in Florida can get pretty hot, but I like that Ogilvy saddle pads don’t leave my horse drenched in sweat after every hack or jump lesson. While I’m cooling down Benz after every ride, I usually just hang up my saddle pad over one of the wash racks and it always dries relatively quickly!

I also love how the saddle pad fits at the top. With it’s V shaped design, it allows for a ton of movement while keeping the horse’s back and withers protected.

4. Fun Customization Options Available

I found this navy blue Ogilvy Jump BabyPad at my local tack shop, but as soon as I shared that I had purchased it, a fellow equestrian reached out and told me that you can actually customize your own on their website!

With 10 body color options, 20 binding color options, piping and embroidery available, you can really create a saddle pad that can match your barn colors or even your own favorite color palette!

P.S. You can also add a logo by contacting them at info@ogilvyequestrian.com!

Know that the OgilvyJump BabyPad automatically does not come with girth straps, but since it stays in place you don’t have to have them. You can add them on through their website though!

I highly recommend the Ogilvy Jump BabyPad as a great staple for your equestrian tack and I definitely plan on buying a few more in the future!
