What To Bring To The Dog Park
I have been taking my rescue dog Diesel to the dog park since he was four months old! He has always loved going to all the dog parks to make new friends and play. I always like to carry a handful of items when I visit any dog park near me so that I can be prepared. Today’s blog post is all about what to bring to the dog park.
First off, I have to share where my new favorite dog park tote bag is from! Bubs and Betty’s is a family-run company in Milford, Michigan that has cute items for dogs and dog owners. Plus, if you love doodles, this company has the cutest branch manager, Bubs!
Now, whenever I visit a dog park, I like to have a bag to hold some of the essentials for when I get there: Diesel’s dog harness, dog leash and of course my keys and/or phone.
The additional essentials that I always bring are:
- Highwave Growler Dog Water Bottle
- Dog Poop Bags
- **A bag of Diesel’s favorite treats**
** Subject to changeScroll down to learn more about each!
My dog’s hydration is extremely important to me. Especially when it starts to get warmer, the more water the better! Ever since I found the Growler dog water bottle from Highwave, it’s the only item I bring!
Second is one of the most important items, poop bags! Most dog parks will have poop bag stations and trashcans where you can dispose of your pets waste. However, there is often times when they run out. Plus, if your dog is anything like mine, sometimes he won’t go until after we leave and I’m just like well, wish I had a poop bag! Ha! It never hurts to be prepared.
Lastly is a bag of treats. I did put that this is subject to change. If I know that we are going to play with a bunch of friends, I don’t bring treats. Dogs can get aggressive over food, no matter how friendly they are with each other, so it’s better to be safe than sorry. If I’m going to a park at a certain time of day when they aren’t usually a lot of dogs then I might bring treats if I want to play with Diesel. For example, some dog parks have agility courses in them and Diesel loves to do them! I always bring treats during those trips to reward him after being the best boy!
