5 Horse Grooming Products I’m Loving Right Now
One of my favorite things to do while at the barn is to groom. It has always been such a relaxing activity for me, and I could honestly spend hours doing it. Plus, Pearl loves being spoiled after our rides and while Petri is currently rehabbing, it’s a fun way to spend time together on the ground! In this blog post, I’ll share 5 horse grooming products I’m loving right now from some of my favorite brands like Myst Equine, HAAS, Epona and more. You’ll want to throw all of these into your horse grooming bag ASAP!
1. Myst Equine Dry Shampoo
The first horse grooming product I’m loving right now is by one of my favorite brands, Myst Equine! Back in December, I had added Myst Equine’s Coat Elixir to my Gift Ideas for Horse Lovers Blog Post. Their coat elixir is still one of my favorite products, but today, I’m here to talk about their Dry Shampoo.
While we don’t get the same “winter” season here in Florida like most states do across the US, we do have a few weeks in January and February where it is too cold to rinse our horses off after a ride. Because of this, I wanted to find an alternative to the soapy baths I love to give. Myst Equine’s dry shampoo is great because it’s all natural, filled with many essential oils, features an anti-itch herbal infusion and it doesn’t take much to keep your horse clean!
To use, all you have to do is spray a few long strokes on your horse and take a clean towel and wipe the dirt right off. I’ve used this on Pearl (chestnut) and Petri (bay) and have seen the dirt come right off. Plus, I love that the all natural ingredients are present to keep their skin and coats healthy and shiny. This product is $24 and you can buy it directly from Myst or you can find it at one of their many retail partners.
2. Epona Tiger’s Tongue Horse Groomer
Let me start off by saying that this product is a GAME CHANGER when it comes to horse grooming! The Epona Tiger’s Tongue Horse Groomer was recommended to me by my friend Stephanie and I’m so happy she introduced it to me. This horse grooming product is amazing at getting rid of all of the loose dirt that is just sitting on your horse. I have brought Petri in many times after him rolling in the dirt and this product wipes it right off.
I have seen the Tiger’s Tongue Horse Groomer at many tents/trailers at horse shows and local tack stores and online retailers like Tack Shack Ocala, Smartpak and Dover. The price range I’ve usually seen for this product is $6-$9, depending on the retailer.
After I’ve used this, I love to use the next product below!
3. Haas Diva Brush
After wanting to try this brand for quite some time, HAAS horse brushes are officially one of my favorite horse brush brands. The HAAS Diva brush is probably the softest horse grooming brush I have ever felt, combined with horse hair and lambswool. After I’ve used my curry comb and Epona Tiger’s Tongue to get all of the caked dirt up and off, I’ll use the HAAS Diva Brush to finish getting any dust and dirt particles left on the coat to create a nice shine.
I purchased the Diva Brush at my local tack store (Tack Shack Ocala), but you can find it online at many retailers. After doing a quick search, it looks like Riding Warehouse has the best selection of HAAS brushes, including the Diva Brush for $28.95.
4. Groom’s Hand Thrush Solution
The fourth item in my horse grooming kit is the Groom’s Hand Thrush Solution. It can get pretty wet here in Florida with all of the rain, so having a product that can help protect our horses hooves from thrush and white-line disease is important. This thrush treatment for horses was actually recommended to me by my trainer and has some amazing features:
- Is formaldehyde free & has a natural ingredient, tea tree oil
- Aerosol spray design for quick and easy use
- Attached Hoof pick for all-in-one treatment
Also, this product was created by a third-generation local farrier here in Ocala, FL named Samuel McKee! As mentioned above, this product does have a hoof pick attached to one end, but I usually use my own, only because I like to use the brush part of my hoof pick to rub the solution into the frog after I’ve sprayed it on. I initially got this product for Petri’s hooves just because the frog looked a lot deeper than it needed to be. I initially treated his feet at least three to four times a week and saw the biggest transformation. I honestly should’ve taken before an after pictures! You can find the Groom’s Hand Thrush Solution on Amazon for $19 and I highly recommend it!

5. Cowboy Magic Detangler and Shine
The last horse grooming product I’m loving right now is Cowboy Magic’s Detangler and Shine product. For the longest time I have used Showsheen as my main detangler for horse manes and tails. One of my friends told me that she had switched to this Cowboy Magic because she felt like Showsheen was actually drying out her horse’s hair. I figured, why not try it out.
I have been using Cowboy Magic’s Detangler and Shine product for months now and am such a huge fan. This product not only detangles immediately, but it also restores moisture and strengthens hair, leaving a beautiful, natural shine. You don’t need much either, which is always my favorite part about any grooming product! All you need is about the size of a nickel in your hand (sometimes I’ll do that, rub it throughout the tail, and then add just a little bit more if my horse’s tail is thicker) and then start brushing. You’ll be amazed at how easily your horse’s tail detangles and how shiny and healthy it looks after using!
I initially purchased the 4 oz. tube for about $11 from Tack Shack. Now that I know it works, I’ll probably get the larger 16 oz. bottle that runs around $25 when this smaller one runs out (I still have a ton!) since I know it’ll last a long time. You can find the Cowboy Magic Detangler and Shine product at many local tack stores and online retailers!
