Dog And Owner Halloween Costume: Monkey and Banana

Happy Howl-O-Ween! We have another dog and owner Halloween costume idea today, and this is actually Annie’s first dog Halloween costume! We always give our dogs nicknames in our house, and they usually rhyme with their names. Diesel is Diesel Weasel and Annie is Annie Bananie (banana ha). Because of that, I couldn’t resist when I found this banana dog costume on Amazon from Rubie’s Costume Co. This funny dog and owner costume idea requires only two items and is sure to be a hit at any costume contest or Halloween paw-ty!

For the adult costume, I found this adorable monkey onesie from Amscan in a size small/medium on Amazon! It is unisex and fits a little baggy like a onesie usually does. In the case that it is sold out by the time you find this, below are a few other Monkey onesie’s that also had great ratings!

For Annie’s funny banana dog costume, I looked at the size chart for the costume, and to my surprise, her recommended size was an XL! Now, Annie is not that big of a dog and she’s pretty slim. However, always check the size chart because every brand fits different!

To find your dog’s measurements, measure from their neck to their back (just before their tail), around the widest part of the chest, and around their neck and head. The costume page has a size chart image that also goes over where you should measure to find the right size!

I will say though, that when I measured her she was slightly bigger around her chest than the costume permitted, so in order to still use it, I poked two small holes in the part that goes around the chest and used matching yellow ribbon to attach it around her belly. Since it wasn’t that big of a gap, you don’t even notice the little yellow bow on her belly.

*Note: This costume shows up as having two color options but they look the same in the photo. I would just go with whichever has your size in stock. I don’t think a banana costume can have that big of a difference in color!*

The banana dog costume is two parts: the peel for the body and the banana tip for the head. I personally think the costume looks adorable with or without the banana topper (see image below for without), and to be honest, it was pretty hard to keep it on ha! It has holes for the ears but Annie’s ears kept slipping out.

I recommend putting the banana topper on your dog for pictures #doitforthegram and then possibly keeping it with you for anyone who wants to see the full look. I can guarantee it won’t stay on the whole night. Ha!
