StripHair Gentle Groomer: Horse Grooming Tool

I love discovering new horse grooming tools. If you’ve been following me for quite some time, you probably know that horse grooming is one of my favorite things to do! When I switched barns last year, I was introduced to a really cool horse grooming tool called the Striphair Gentle Groomer. 

This product is a horse grooming tool, horse shedding tool, therapeutic horse tool and SO much more! With all of the awesome features it has, I knew I had to do a full review of it and share all of the ways I’ve used it on my horse.

StripHair Design & Features

Let’s start out by going over all of the awesome features of the strip hair gentle groomer! The strip hair horse brush is designed with the following features:

  • Soft cleaning diamonds:
    • Large diamonds on one side to break up dirt, mud and sweat as well as lather shampoo and help increase circulation to the skin.
    • Small diamonds on the other to be used on more sensitive areas such as the legs, face and ears. 
  • Gentle grooming edge:
    • Use to sweep away any loose hair, remove dirt and dander, squeegee excess water after bathing and more!
  • Flexible material:
    • The tool is designed out of a flexible rubber material, allowing the tool to move with you as you groom every part of your horse!

Since this horse grooming tool is multi-purpose, it can help cut down some of the grooming tools you would normally buy, which is something this adult amateur equestrian on a budget loves!

How Do I Use The StripHair Gentle Groomer?

I have found multiple uses for the strip hair horse brush! Below are some of my top uses for the Striphair gentle groomer: 

  • Grooming sensitive horses:
    • Pearl can be quite sensitive during grooming and I didn’t want to use anything that would feel harsh against her skin. This horse grooming tool is so light and soft, she doesn’t mind it at all! 
  • Cleaning the legs for Equine Cannon Keratosis:
    •  Both Pearl and Petri get this on their hind legs from time to time, and the soft gentle diamonds on the Striphair gentle groomer have been amazing. It’s not as aggressive as a curry or grooming glove and it slowly takes it off the legs. I like to do this in spurts though, because doing everything at once can lead to irritation, but the goal is always to get it off their legs!
    • *Please note that I am not a vet, so if you are seeing this on your horse, of course consult a vet and/or your trainer*
  • Removing loose hair during winter/spring season transition:
    • In my opinion, this is the best horse shedding tool because unlike metal shedding tools, this strip hair horse brush will not fray hairs, leaving your horse’s coat nice and shiny. It also gets all of the dirt trapped underneath at the same time so as this horse deshedding tool is removing hair, it’s also cleaning the coat! Talk about a win-win!
  • Brushing my dogs:
    • Did you know that you can use the Striphair gentle groomer on your dogs? This is a great dog grooming tool for dogs with shorter coats, like my brindle dog Diesel! It softly sweeps away any loose hairs without the use of a hard bristle brush.

Plus, the strip hair horse brush is super easy to clean! Once you’re done, simply rinse it off with water and leave out to dry. If you’ve used it to clean off any kind of fungus or even rub off the cannon keratosis, I recommend using some soap to clean it off before using it again to prevent spreading it to another horse or putting it back on your own.
