BEST LED Dog Collar: DGS Pet Products Comet Collar
I recently shared that my pups and I will be headed out on some amazing adventures at dog-friendly hotels, Air BnB’s, campsites and more this year, which means I have to make sure I’ve got the right dog gear for every adventure we’re going on!
One of the latest adventures I’ve been planning is our first dog friendly camping trip! Since both of my dogs have darker coats, I knew that I had to have some kind of dog lights or safety collar for dogs for at night. Ensuring that I have visibility on them at all times is extremely important! When I discovered DGS Pet Products Comet Collar, I knew it was perfect for this trip and for everyday use!
The DGS Pet Products Comet Collar is a light up dog collar that is rechargeable. Plus it has many awesome features! In this post I’ll be going through all of it’s features, how sizing works and the many ways you can use it to keep your pups safe and visible in the dark!
Feature 1: Flashing Dog Collar Light
The first and most important feature on this safety collar for dogs is the flashing dog collar light. This light up dog collar actually has three different modes:
- Continuous light
- Slow flashing light
- Fast flashing light
The buckle on this light up dog collar is actually where the light is located. To turn on any of the modes on the flashing dog collar light, just push the button located on the backside of the buckle (part that touches your dog’s fur). Below are how many clicks activates each mode:
- 1 push: Fast flashing light
- 2 pushes: Slow flashing light
- 3 pushes: Continuous light
- 4 pushes: Light turns off

There are so benefits of having the different flashing dog collar light modes:
- If you take your dog hunting and are looking for the best led dog collar to keep an eye on your pup, this is perfect!
- If you like to take your dog on early morning or late night walks, the flashing light could be the difference between you and your dog being seen and not being seen by a moving vehicle.
- If you have a darker coated dog who blends in with the night no matter where you are (even in your own backyard!), this collar would be so helpful!
Feature 2: USB Rechargeable LED Dog Collar
The second feature on the Comet LED Safety Dog Collar is that the this light up dog collar is rechargeable! When you unbuckle this led light collar for dogs, you will find a charging port. The USB cord is included in your package.
This USB rechargeable led dog collar takes around 30 minutes to charge and once charged, will provide about 4 hours of flashing light and around an hour and a half of continuous light!
Since so many devices nowadays have USB charging ports built in, (cars, computers, portable power stations, etc.) having a rechargeable dog light is so convenient!
Feature 3: Waterproof LED Dog Collar
The third and final feature of this safety collar for dogs is that it is a waterproof led dog collar! This nylon dog collar was created with a specially-designed clasping system on the light buckle that can protect the electronics for the light up to a meter underwater! Now, I haven’t tried this just yet but I’m super curious to see how it does this summer with all of our fun dog-friendly beach trips!
This waterproof light up dog collar has also been tested to -20 degrees Celsius which is -4 degrees Fahrenheit. Since I live in Florida and am not exposed to colder temperatures like those, I haven’t tested this just yet. I do hope to take my pups on some fun winter adventures later in the year, so we’ll see how it does then! Until then, we’ll start with the warm, Florida water!
DGS Pet Comet Collar Sizing:
This USB rechargeable led dog collar comes in three sizes:
- Small: 1.5 X 34-31cm / 0.6″ X 13″-16″
- Medium: 2.0 X 41-51cm / 0.8″ X 16″-20″
- Large: 2.5 X 51-63cm / 1″ X 20″-24.8″
Annie is wearing a size medium and Diesel is wearing a size large. Annie is 80 pounds and a cattle dog/pointer mix for reference (she has a bit of a chunky neck though with all her floof, ha!) and Diesel is a mastiff/staffy mix currently weighing 114 pounds with a thicker neck.
If you have large/extra large breeds, particularly ones with thicker heads and necks like Mastiffs, Bernese Mountain Dogs or St. Bernards, I recommend the large size. Diesel fits in it without it even being loosened all the way and after I did I still had a TON of room left over! No matter what, definitely check the sizing chart above and measure your dog before purchasing!
Pro Tip: To ensure your dog’s collar isn’t too tight, always make sure you can fit two fingers between your dog’s collar and their neck.
So, how cool is this USB rechargeable led dog collar from Dog Gone Smart Pet Products? With all of it’s cool features, I think this is the best led light up dog collar and it’s super affordable! I am so excited to start using this night collar for dogs when taking my pups on walks and on all of our upcoming adventures. With this light up dog collar, I know my dogs will be visible which will help both of us stay safe!
