Dog Gone Smart Pet Products Dirty Dog Cushion Pad: Washable Dog Crate Pad

Are your dogs crate trained and do you use dog crates all the time? If you’re new here, I am a firm believer in crate training because of the numerous benefits it can provide for your dog! One thing that you can add to your dog’s crate to provide additional comfort is a dog crate mat!

I’ve been using a ton of dog products from Dog Gone Smart Pet Products for quite some time now and was excited to try out their Dirty Dog Cushion Pad. All of the products from their Dirty Dog line feature a super absorbent microfiber material, designed to soak up as much water as possible while drying off your pup. Now, they’ve combined this material with a comfy pad and turned it into a pad for dog crates!

In this post I’ll be sharing all of the features included in this washable dog crate pad as well as helpful sizing information from my very own double door wire dog crate and multiple ways you can use it!

Dirty Dog Cushion Pad Features:

Before we get started, one important thing to note is that you should only put a dog crate pad inside your dog’s crate if you know they will not mess with it. Some dogs do not do well with things inside their crate and can destroy them (this was Diesel as a puppy, but not him now). Always know your pup and set them up for success!

Below is a breakdown of the features of the Dirty Dog Cushion Pad, a dog crate mat.

Feature 1: Anti-Skid Bottom

The first feature of the Dirty Dog Cushion Pad is the anti-skid bottom. In the picture below you’ll see a ton of tiny dots. These tiny dots make up the anti-skid bottom that keeps this dog crate pad in place in your dog’s crate.

Feature 2: Hidden Zipper and Removable Dog Crate Pad Cover

The next feature included in this pad for dog crates is the hidden zipper and removable dog crate pad cover! Besides the next feature, this is probably my favorite. The Dirty Dog Cushion Pad features a hidden zipper, keeping it out of reach from curious pups who might want to chew or destroy it. It tucks away nicely under the fabric and is out of sight, out of mind!

Pro Tip: If you happen to push the zipper back too far (I did this, ha!), grab a safety pin and hook it the zipper and pull forward. I actually pushed the zipper too far back on the day we shot these photos and my photographer and I had to grab a safety pin in order to pull it forward. It was quite funny!

What I also love is that the Dirty Dog Cushion Pad is also a washable dog crate pad! As a dog mom, finding any item that is washable is a life saver. This dog crate pad comes with a removable cover, making it easy to keep clean!

Feature 3: Antimicrobial Microfiber Cushion Pad

The third feature is the antimicrobial, microfiber cushion pad. In the picture below, I pull back the removable cover on the dog crate pad so you can fully see the cushion pad inside. The thickness of the pad itself (including a little height from the microfiber material on top) is around two inches. Plus, the liner on the inside is water resistant!

Ways To Use The Dirty Dog Cushion Pad

Since this is covered with their famous super absorbent microfiber material, the Dirty Dog Cushion Mat can easily double as a dog drying mat! If you’re one to travel with your dog to the beach, lake or dock diving competitions, having the Dirty Dog Cushion Mat in your dog’s crate as a dog drying mat would be the perfect dog travel accessory.

Another idea is to use on camping trips. Again, this is washable and you always want to take easy-to-clean items with you on camping trips! Easily add this washable dog crate pad to your basecamp set up and your pup can relax while also getting any dirt and water off from their outdoor adventures!

Last but not least, let’s talk about sizing! The Dirty Dog Cushion Pad comes in 3 sizes:

Small: 19″ X 24″
Medium: 21″ X 30″
Large: 23″ X 36″

I have the Dirty Dog Cushion Pad in size large and it perfectly fits my large wire double door dog crate from Carlson Pet Products ( 42″ L X 28″ W X 30″ H)! I would say that if you have a dog crate bigger than those dimensions, the large dog crate mat might be too small. I definitely recommend looking at your dog crate’s dimensions so you can pick the best size mat for your dog crate!

As temperatures continue to warm up and outdoor adventures fill our days, I’m so excited to use the Dirty Dog Cushion Pad as much as possible! This large dog crate mat has so many helpful ways it can be used and since it’s a washable dog crate pad, I know that my dog’s crate will always stay nice and clean!
