Frozen Watermelon Yogurt Blueberry Dog Treat
If I had to pick my dog’s favorite summer fruit it would have to be watermelon! The first time we ever brought home a watermelon when Diesel was a puppy, he wasn’t sure what it was. Then, once we cut it open and gave him a taste, he lost his little puppy mind, ha! Now we can’t bring one in the door without him getting excited and same with Annie too!
Today I’m going to share how to make a tasty frozen watermelon, yogurt and blueberry dog treat. This is a great frozen dog treat for summer as well as a fun 4th of July dog treat recipe. Let’s start making this tasty dog popsicle recipe!
P.S. If you’re new to my dog mom blog, welcome! I love making dog popsicle recipes and have many more linked at the bottom of this post!

- Is watermelon safe for dogs?
- Are blueberries safe for dogs?
Below is more information about these fruits that are safe for dogs:
Is Watermelon Safe For Dogs?
Can dogs eat watermelon? Yes! Watermelon is a great low calorie treat for dogs that has so many health benefits for dogs like vitamins A, B6, C and potassium! 1 cup of diced watermelon only contains 46 calories and since it’s 92% water, it’s a great way to keep your dog cool in the summer!
Sounds like we’ll be making watermelon dog treats all summer long!
Note: Avoid giving your dog watermelon seeds and the rind. Neither are safe for your dog!
Are Blueberries Safe For Dogs?
Now let’s dive into another low calorie snack for dogs: blueberries! Yes, blueberries are safe for dogs and they contain a ton of vitamin C, fiber and antioxidants!
Something also cool about this superfood for dogs is that they also contain phytochemicals which is a naturally occurring chemical compound found in plants which can help with many health aspects including the ability to fight cancer in humans!
And: “Studies show that adding antioxidants to your dog’s diet reduces the effects of brain aging, which is great if you have a senior dog.” – AKC.
Thanks AKC for teaching me this!
