Suitical Dry Cooling Vest Review
Annie has a pretty thick dark coat (think Labrador type coat). Since Florida experiences warm weather 85% of the year, we have to keep our dogs extra cool to prevent overheating. Because of this, I was so excited to try Suitical’s Dry Cooling Vest. Suitical is revolutionizing the pet industry with their incredible products. Today I’m going to walk through how their Dry Cooling Vest works and how it can help your dog stay cool!
P.S. Check out my blog post about Suitical’s Recovery Suit! Whether your dog is about to be spayed or neutered or is recovering from any other type of surgery or skin allergy, their recovery suit is hands down my favorite dog cone alternative.
How It Works:
The design of the Dry Cooling Vest is genius. This vest cools your dog through the evaporation of the water that is put inside of it. The cooling process begins immediately and can cool your dog up to 59 degrees below ambient air temperature for 1-3 days. One of my favorite parts of the design is that it is dependent on humidity and airflow. Florida has like 100% humidity every single day, so I immediately knew it was perfect. Ha! This vest provides immediate relief after a fun trip to the dog park, a nice hike with your dog or even a relaxing walk with your dog.
Plus, this suit is always dry. You never have to worry about it becoming super damp or wet. Refrigeration or add any type of chemicals is NOT needed and each size requires a different amount of water to work. Annie is wearing a size large which requires 14.50 oz. or 430 ml.
I would say the size is also pretty spot on. I used their size chart to fit Annie and without having to adjust the buckles, it had a comfortable fit that allowed the vest to be around her without being tight at all.
Now, let’s learn how to use it! Scroll down for helpful information and tips.
**Pro Tip: Do NOT add more water than is required. More water does NOT make it work better, but rather add a ton of excess weight that isn’t necessary for your dog**
How To Use:
What makes the Dry Cooling Vest even more amazing is the simplicity to use it! Follow these 5 easy steps:
- Find the fill tab at the top near the neck and open it.
- Add the instructed amount of water that can be found within the instructions or online under “usage.”
- If you put too much, squeeze out any excess.
- Use your hands to spread the water throughout the entire vest (top and bottom). **this is important because it ensures that all parts of the vest are cooling off your dog instead of one area.**
- Slip the vest over your dogs head (fill tab is on top)
- Fasten both buckles to connect both sides.
That’s it! If you’re a visual learner like me, check out the photos below! Now, scroll down to learn what to do when you’re done using it and how to clean it.
How To Clean/What To Do When Done Using:
When you’re done using the vest, open the fill tab on the vest and allow to air dry. The vest will continue to evaporate and cool until the inside is fully dry.
**Pro Tip: Make sure the vest is fully dry before packing it anywhere. One of the team members at Suitical shared that they didn’t realize the vest wasn’t completely dry and put it in their luggage, only to find out everything in their luggage was damp when they arrived back home.**
If you have a dog who loves the mud and dirt like mine, this vest is super easy to clean and is washer friendly. Before washing, make sure fill tab is closed. The vest will get HUGE with too much water inside and none of us need an oompa-loompa inside our washing machines! Ha! Do NOT put it in the dryer! Hang it up to dry.
That about wraps it up for everything you need to know about Suitical’s Dry Cooling Vest! Suitical also has a ton of helpful information about this product on their website, including a helpful how-to video under the “usage” section of the product page and a cooling calculator where you can enter your current humidity and the temperature outside to see how cool the vest will become! I mean seriously, how cool is that?!
