Creamsicle Dog Popsicle: Frozen Carrot, Pumpkin & Yogurt Dog Treat

Being a Florida native, there’s one thing we have a ton of around here: oranges! I’m definitely the worst Floridian though because I can’t stand them, ha! I do love little mandarin cuties though, does that count?

Today’s homemade frozen dog treat recipe is inspired by a true classic, the orange creamsicle popsicle! I thought it would be fun to make a dog popsicle version with some tasty and healthy dog safe ingredients.

In this post I’ll share how to make this frozen carrot, pumpkin and yogurt dog treat recipe, plus share some benefits of carrots and pumpkin for dogs.

P.S. Scroll to the end of this post for FOUR more dog popsicle recipes!

Can Dogs Have Pumpkin:

If you’ve never given your dog pumpkin before and are wondering “Can dogs have pumpkin?”, the answer is yes! I love sharing recipes for dog treats with pumpkin because of the many benefits of pumpkin for dogs.

Not only can pumpkin help with your dog’s skin and coat, it’s most known for aiding in digestion and constipation. Pumpkin has always been one of my go-to’s for a dog’s upset stomach (when applicable).

Note: NEVER give your dog pumpkin pie mix. Always only feed them 100% pure pumpkin!

Benefits Of Carrots For Dogs:

Carrots are good and safe for dogs and there are actually many benefits of carrots for dogs.

Carrots are low calorie, high in fiber and beta-carotene which creates Vitamin A. Plus, frozen carrots are also great for teething puppies!

Funny story about carrots. When Diesel was a puppy, I used to give him carrots all the time and he loved them. One day, I skinned a few carrots before I cut them up for a dinner recipe and thought Diesel might like the carrot skins in his food. Absolutely not, he was beyond mad that I would dare to put such filth into his dinner, ha! Ever since then he hasn’t been the biggest fan of carrots by themselves, but he loves this carrot dog treats recipe!

How To Make Frozen Carrot Pumpkin Yogurt Dog Treats:

Now that we’ve gathered all of our dog popsicle recipe ingredients, below is a step-by-step guide on how to make this dog popsicle recipe:

Step 1: Grab your carrots and chop off the ends (where the stem is). Then chop up your carrots into small pieces (see photo below).

Step 2: Grab your 1/2 cup of yogurt and 1/2 cup pumpkin.

Step 3: In your blender,  (I use the Ninja Auto IQ Blender) add your chopped carrots, yogurt and pumpkin.

Step 4: Blend up all of your ingredients.

Pro Tip: With the carrots, if you have the same blender as I do, I recommend using the smoothie setting to get a more consistent blend. If you have a different blender, I would be ready to possibly take breaks in between blending to mix around the ingredients since the carrots could use a little extra help to be blended.

Step 5: Grab your dog popsicle silicone mold and start filling! I used this silicone popsicle mold because I already had it and because it looked like the classic creamsicle popsicle shape.

Note: If you use this mold, DO NOT let your dog eat the popsicle stick if you choose to add them. The sticks are not safe for your dog. There are other popsicle molds where you can put your own sticks (I use treats like Milkbones or Plato Pet Treats thinker sticks) which is a much safer, and tastier option!
