Dirty Dog Grooming Mitt Review
Since Diesel was little, he has always enjoyed getting brushed. For the longest time, I thought that only dogs with thicker coats needed to be brushed. Fun fact, dogs with shorter coats should also be brushed as it helps spread the oils on their coat around, resulting in a healthier skin and coat!
I have been a huge fan of Dog Gone Smart Pet Products for quite some time and have always wanted to try their dirty dog grooming mitt! This rubber grooming mitt for dogs is actually a dual-purpose dog grooming tool. In this post I’m going to share all the features and uses of this dog grooming mitt, including how it can also double as a horse grooming mitt!
Feature 1: Microfiber Dog Towel Side
One side of the dirty dog grooming mitt features their famous dirty dog shammy towel, a super absorbent microfiber dog towel. This side of the pet grooming mitt is incredibly soft and with dog gone smart pet products advanced microfiber technology, it can dry your dog 8X faster than a normal cotton towel! How cool is that!
My favorite uses of the microfiber dog towel side of this dog grooming mitt are:
- Dry off/do a click clean of Diesel & Annie’s paws before coming back into house if dirty
- Dry off sensitive areas (ex: face)
- Help with Diesel’s slobber
Diesel drools SO much, so this dog grooming mitt has been very helpful during dinner ha! Plus, this grooming mitt for dogs is machine washable, so it can always stay clean while keeping your pets and home clean (every dog mom’s favorite thing to hear, ha!).
Feature 2: Rubber Grooming Glove Side
The other side of the dirty dog grooming mitt features soft, rubber bristles in the shape of a paw print (how cute!) that help remove excess dog hair. I love this grooming glove for short hair dogs like Diesel because it really allows you to work their coats while still getting any loose hair off. Plus, it’s great for neck and booty rubs, ha!
I also tried this on Annie’s thicker coat and it did a great job at removing her top layer of hair too. I would just note that this is not intended to use for a dog’s thick undercoat. You would need a separate dog grooming tool for that!
How Equestrians Can Use It:
I love that this dog grooming mitt also doubles as a grooming mitt for horses. I always love finding new horse grooming tools and horse grooming supplies, and this product is a great dual-purpose product!
Since the rubber grooming glove side is so soft and the bristles are also short, it is the perfect curry comb for getting off that top layer of dirt and could be used on sensitive areas like their legs.
The microfiber pet towel side is also incredibly soft and is perfect for drying off their face, belly and legs. Pearl is pretty sensitive and gets quite itchy on her belly, so I plan on using this before putting on her belly cream! For Petri, during the summer I always like to dry off his face before putting his Cashel Crusader fly mask back on, and this horse grooming mitt will be perfect for that!
If you’re an equestrian and dog mom who loves dual-purpose grooming products, the dirty dog grooming mitt from Dog Gone Smart Pet Products is a must-have! I really love that this grooming mitt for dogs is also a great grooming mitt for horses. I honestly might have to get a second one so I can leave one at home and have one just for the barn, ha!
I hope you loved learning about this awesome dog grooming mitt! Be sure to check out more of their amazing products like their dirty dog shammy dog towel, dirty dog doormat and more!
