Women’s English Paddock Boots Review: Kavalkade Romulus Boots
A few months ago, I heard that the German equestrian brand Kavalkade had the most comfortable riding paddock boots on the market. I was quite intrigued by this and really wanted to see if this was true. After having these for a little over a month, I am thrilled to say it’s true!
The Kavalkade Romulus women’s paddock boots are by far my favorite English paddock boots I’ve owned yet. I’ve walked all over my barn’s 40 acre property in them, worn them to shows, ridden (and jumped) in them and I am so impressed!
In this post, I’ll be sharing all about these comfortable riding paddock boots, how sizing works, how to take care of them and more!
How Are The Kavalkade Romulus Women’s Paddock Boots Made?
One thing I love about all of Kavalkade is their quality of leather in every product. These English riding paddock boots are made from the best oiled German leather.
During the tanning process, the boots are oiled, so they’re extremely supple by the time they get to you! Plus, they have a super squishy sole that is so soft and it has a really nice instep. The side of the boot has a zipper that helps secure the boot in place. I’ve ridden in these multiple times and the zipper has never fallen. The sides also have elastic that adds to the instant comfort you feel when you put them on, and in my opinion it helps with the breathability of the shoe.
The bottom of these English riding paddock boots also have a really good tread on them, which comes in extra handy on rainy days. The bottom of the boot also doesn’t have too much flexibility, which I personally liked when riding in them. I felt like I was able to keep my heels down in my irons (versus them going half over on one side and half on the other) which was really helpful over jumps.
With all of these features, these truly are the most comfortable women’s paddock boots I’ve ever owned. Now let’s get into sizing and fit!

How Does The Kavalkade Romulus Women’s Paddock Boot Fit?
In terms of sizing and fit, these are in European sizes, so you have to use the conversion chart, but the sizing is extremely accurate and true-to-size. I wear a women’s size 9 in everything and I got a size 40 and they fit perfectly.
NOTE: These English paddock boots have more of a European cut, which means it’s designed for more narrow/medium feet. If you have a wider foot, this boot is not for you!
For comparison purposes, I found a brand new pair of Ariat paddock boots a few years back at a local consignment shop. While they were nice, the toe cap was more pointed and after wearing them for sometimes not even an hour or a few hours, my toes honestly felt like they were being pushed on top of each other. Now that I’ve tried the Kavalkade Romulus women’s paddock boots, I’ve never had that issue and I haven’t even put on my Ariat’s!
P.S. Random note, but I’m wearing their summer socks in these photos and they are SO soft and comfy! I think I’m spotting a trend here, ha!
How Do I Clean The Kavalkade Romulus Women’s Paddock Boot?
These horse paddock boots can be cleaned with conditioning soap every once in a while and if anything gets on them, you can easily wipe them down with some water!
These English women’s riding paddock boots are honestly one of my favorite pieces of riding clothing/footwear I’ve ever owned. They really are one of the most comfortable women’s paddock boots and I think you’re going to love them too!
